Letter to the editor – Josh Tuel

Dear editor,

I had the pleasure of meeting Pete Bardole in the summer of 2015. Pete brought his son to audition for the Community Players production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. I asked Pete if he was going to audition and he wasn’t sure but came back and read anyway. I ended up casting Pete in a pretty good role and he worked extremely hard to bring everything he could to the part. He listened, he took direction, and he improved every single rehearsal. I was pretty amazed at the transformation from the audition to the finished product. That was my mistake.

During the course of the show, I got to really know Pete on a human level. The kind of transformation he showed in his acting is really just part of who Pete is as a person. He listens, he asks questions, he offers suggestions, and he works hard to improve. Those are qualities I find extremely rare in people. It is one thing to do that for a set amount of time but to approach your day-to-day life in that fashion speaks to a strong upbringing and intrinsic core values.

When we decided to do “The Wizard of Oz” in the spring of this year; there was Pete. He played multiple roles and made all of them great. He brought along his other two boys and they worked just as hard at crafting their roles and being sparkplug members of the team. Moreover, Pete was there all of the time working on the set, even building a rolling wagon to be used for the show. He never asked for praise or stardom, he just asked what he could do to help. I learned quickly that when a Bardole tells you they will do something; it gets done.

I have teased Pete mercilessly about his foray into politics (that’s kind of what I do), but I’ve known from the beginning it isn’t about politics for Pete. This election is about Greene County strong. The man has been raised here, he speaks to our core values, and he is a dedicated family man and community member. I truly believe that the Bardole family is as wholesome and honest as you could hope to find in an age where marriage is disposable and values seem to come with expiration dates. I am a Democrat; Pete is a Republican. On November 8th, I am voting for the choice that makes Greene County stronger. I am voting for the candidate that makes me want to be a better citizen. I am voting for the person who listens, learns, offers suggestions, improves what they find, and gets things done. I am voting for Pete Bardole and in turn I am voting for the whole Bardole Family.

Life is sweeter when you vote for Peter! (This slogan has not been endorsed by the Bardole campaign)

Thanks for your time, Josh Tuel, rural Jefferson
